Our Businesses
In addition to warehousing, Goldfish Property’s business interests include Bonnington Plastics and Myownspace.com. Bonningtons is decades established, with offices in the UK and Far East while newer venture Myownspace.com serves the UK’s growing demand for flexible business space.
Bonningtons Plastics: where the Goldfish Property story begins
In 1967, Paul Fisher started a rubber business in a spare room in the UK village of Sutton Bonnington, Nottinghamshire. That business later became Bonnington Plastics Limited (a.k.a. Bonningtons) which was incorporated in 1977. Still owned within the Fisher family, the family name has been preserved in Goldfish Property – of which Bonningtons is its principal non-property business – and in Kingfisher, Bonningtons’ best-known brand.
From plastic production to property management
In its early decades, Bonningtons was a specialist manufacturer of plastics products – in particular thermoplastic extrusion of piping – and purchased industrial premises in Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Derbyshire to accommodate these operations. Bonningtons has given, and continues to give, Goldfish Property a deep and direct understanding of UK businesses’ evolving warehousing needs. In particular, the requirements of medium-sized enterprises in relation to Midlands warehousing.
Bonningtons: a leading name in wholesale plastic products
Today, Bonningtons is one of the UK’s largest importers and distributors of wholesale gardening, home and leisure products. With over 500 products warehoused in the UK, it supplies a broad spectrum of businesses: from high street retail chains, garden centre groups and independent retailers to cash and carry wholesalers, large internet retailers and trade professionals.
Roots in the East Midlands and East Asia
With the expansion of more cost-effective manufacturing in the Far East, and improved supply chains from Asia, Bonningtons began procuring products from China and elsewhere in Asia and eventually ceased manufacturing in the UK. It established offices in Hong Kong and the large coastal city of Ningbo, China. Close to Shanghai, Ningbo has the third busiest container port in the world.
Myownspace.com: the newest addition to the Goldfish family
Myownspace.com provides flexible business space for personal and business customers. Helping to address the strong demand for self-storage and serviced business units in the UK, the business offers customers both short and long term solutions from 9 square feet upwards. Both sites in Nottingham and Northampton provide serviced and unserviced business units for companies seeking flexibility and convenience and also offer on-site business centres where customers can use communal offices and meeting rooms amongst other facilities.
